Torchlight II the sequel to Runic's 2009 ARPG, Torchlight
Torchlight II is an upcoming action role-playing game developed by Runic Games and published by Perfect World. It is the sequel to Runic's 2009 ARPG, Torchlight, and features peer-to-peer multiplayer support and extended modding capabilities. As of June 2011, Runic Games estimates the PC version's release date to be "sometime in 2011." A release for Mac OS is planned for some time after the PC release.
Character classes
The game will feature four character classes, of which three have been announced: the Railman is an engineering-themed melee fighter whose combat abilities use an alternate resource system, the Outlander is a wandering nomad who uses ranged weapons and "low magic", and the Berserker who uses quick attacks and animal-themed special powers to kill everything in its path. The three classes from the original Torchlight do not return as playable characters, although they are present in the game world as NPCs.
Plot
The game will take players beyond the town of Torchlight, across the continent of Vilderan. Syl, a warrior from the first game, appears to the player character in a dream, beckoning him or her to the Estherian Steppes. The plot will focus on how the characters from the original Torchlight have been affected by their previous quest for riches. The player will work together with guardians from Estheria to uncover a plot that threatens the world
